Prey at Dusk

Tongue
pressed against
the roof of my mouth,

vision
drawn up into
the oncoming night,

early night
darkening across
the immense dome of sky,

deepening sky
gracefully mirroring
the infinite space of Mind –

pierced by the sudden
shriek of a Red Tailed Hawk,
pursuing its fleeing prey at dusk.
